Borris turned three years old in July 2014. He still spends all his time with his mother, Susan, who is still a source of protection and comfort for him. His older sister Betty visits regularly, and he always enjoys seeing her. Borris spends most of his time wallowing in mud to keep cool, and grazing on the Ol Pejeta plains. He’s got a lot of grass to get through before he reaches his adult weight of between 2,000 and 3,500 kilograms! Borris will soon leave his mother and find a territory of his own. He is likely to start breeding between ten and twelve years, so can still enjoy his carefree lifestyle for a few more years at least.
