If you’ve got a spare hour over the weekend, why not take part in this year’s Big Garden Birdwatch?
Now in its 35th year, the Big Garden Birdwatch has been an invaluable source of data for scientists studying the population and habitat trends of our birds, and now’s your chance to help!
The RSPB would like you to take note of the birds that are visiting your garden, as this is a great indicator of the health of the wildlife in your area.
All you need to do is register online (via the link below) and spend an hour this weekend 25-26 January counting the feathered visitors to your garden – there’s even a new live bird counter app available for your computer or smartphone so you can record your results digitally!
The RSPB website has lots of tips for identifying and attracting birds, including how to make your own bird feeders and seed cakes.
To register, and for all the information on how to collect and send your results, visit the RSPB website: https://www.rspb.org.uk/birdwatch/ and you can tweet what you see to #Birdwatch
Let us know if you are taking part and what birds you have spotted! Upload your photos using the tab above, email them to us (firstname.lastname@example.org) or contact us via Facebook (facebook.com/worldofanimalsmag) and Twitter (@WorldAnimalsMag) and let us know how you get on!
