Mice sing love songs to their partners

Male mice squeak out tuneful ultrasonic calls to attract nearby females and we even have video evidence…

Much like early morning bird songs, mice sing their hearts out to lure females. The tunes are patterned and organised and lady mice really go for the more complex tunes. When females are in sight, a male mouse performs a long but simple song. When it can’t see any females, a male really lets rip with a complicated medley that is sure to get the females running.
