As I was snorkeling in southern France in August 2013, I was experimenting with my new underwater camera. I had already taken dozens of photos of fish that were swimming around me and as I dived down to look at the plants that had taken root on the rocks, I saw a beautiful shell that had been opened. Amazed, I took the shell and looked around a bit — wondering why there were so many beautiful shells in that one area. As I looked more closely, I saw two eyes directly looking at mine. These eyes belonged to an octopus that was hiding between two rocks and who had eaten the creatures in the shells. Not only do I now know what octopuses feed themselves on, but I also got a beautiful shot of this amazing and fascinating creature!
